At the Pick School of Ballroom Dancing International Cha Cha class you can learn how to lead or how to follow figures like closed and open basic movement, alternative basic movement, New York and spot turns.

What we know as the Cha Cha comes from dance teacher Pierre Zurcher-Margolle who visited Cuba from London in 1952 to research just what the Cubans were dancing at that time.

He found an intriguing dance that had a split fourth beat and to dance it one started on the second beat not the first!

Of course he brought this dance home to England and later it became known as the ballroom cha-cha-cha!

According to BallroomDancers.com, "In the International Latin style, the weighted leg should be straight. The free leg will bend, allowing the hips to naturally settle into the direction of the weighted leg. As a step is taken, a free leg will straighten the instant before it receives weight. It should then remain straight until it is completely free of weight again."

Join us to learn this fascinating dance of rhythm and exotic movement.
