Learn to Quickstep to great dance music like:
- "Puttin' On The Ritz" by Judy Garland
- "Let's Face The Music And Dance" by Nat King Cole
- "I Got Rhythm" by Gershwin
At the Pick School of Ballroom Dancing Beginning International Quickstep class you can learn how to lead or how to follow this energetic dance with figures like chasses, quarter turns and lock steps.
According to Wikipedia, the origin of the Quickstep was developed in the twenties in New York and was first danced by Caribbean and African dancers.
Originally a combination of slow foxtrot combined with the Charleston, this dance is one of the dances that eventually led to the ever popular swing dance!
English in origin, the dance was standarized in 1927, and has evolved quite differently from the foxtrot and includes hops, runs and quick steps with a lot of momentum and rotation.
The dance is quite quick-paced since it was developed for ragtime time era jazz music and that music is decidedly faster than our current day foxtrot music!
So come learn how to be light on your feet, elegant and glamorous...
