If you are new to swing dancing this monthly series is for you!  Swing is a fun social dance that is an instantly accessible way to enjoy social dancing to swing jazz, blues and rock and roll music. Swing is a form of social partner dance that evolved from Lindy Hop in the late 1940’s and early 50’s, and is based in six-count patterns that are simplified from of Lindy Hop patterns.  In practice on the social dance floor, the six count steps of the  Swing can be mixed with the eight count steps of Lindy Hop and Charleston. During this series some Lindy figures might be incorporated depending on the pace of the group. This basics in this class can then be applied in Intermediate Swing/Lindy Hop. No experience or partner is necessary.  Swing is a 4 week series that runs each Tuesday from 7pm-7:45PM.  Classes are progressive, therefore every week within that month, we build upon the moves taught in the previous class.

The four week series is $56 for 45 minute classes and $68 for 1 hour classes in advance online or on the first night of class. Please Note: There are no make ups for missed classes. Drop-in students are allowed anytime for  $17 for 45 minute classes & $20/person for one hour classes. We accept PayPal on-line. See below.  West Coast Swing

West Coast Swing is a partner dance with roots in Lindy Hop. It is characterized by a distinctive elastic look that results from its basic extension-compression technique of partner connection, and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor. The dance allows for both partners to improvise steps while dancing together, putting West Coast Swing in a short list of dances that put a premium on improvisation.Typically the follower walks into new patterns traveling forward on counts "1" and "2" of each basic pattern, rather than rocking back. Traditional figures include 6-count and 8-count patterns such as the Sugar Push; Left Side Pass; Right Side Pass; Tuck Turn; and Whip. Virtually all other moves in WCS are variations of these basic patterns.
